I Honor the Preciousness of Every Moment I Share with the People I Love, Knowing That Each Day is a Gift

Last week, my husband and I had one of those nights every couple knows too well.
We were exhausted after dinner and ended up crashing on two separate couches, me in the living room, him in the TV room after watching a show with our son. We didn’t plan it. We were just tired.

In the middle of the night, I half-woke, dragged myself to our bed, and fell asleep instantly. He slept straight through on the couch.

The next morning, when we finally crossed paths, we both said the same thing:
“That was not fun.”

And then he said something I will never forget: “We missed a night.”

Those words filtered right into my heart. Because he was right – we did miss a night. And the truth is, we don’t know how many nights we have left together.

I did the math: in 27 years of marriage, we’ve shared about 9,855 nights.
But the number ahead? Unknown. Finite. Hidden from us on purpose.

It made me realize something simple but profound:
A night together is not “just another night.”
It’s a gift. And so is every day we get to live, love, and wake up beside someone we cherish.

Since that morning, I promised myself this:
I will never take a night spent together for granted again.
