True Freedom is Not a Lack of Commitment, But the Power to Choose and Change.
I recently worked with a client who was afraid to commit to a relationship because she feared being stuck in a situation she didnāt like. This is a common struggle many people face: the fear that commitment means being trapped.
To illustrate a different perspective, I shared this analogy with her: š
Imagine you choose to live homeless on the streets, even though you can afford to rent an apartment, simply because you fear you might not like the neighborhood. You would rather live nowhere than commit to a lease, out of fear you wonāt be able to change if you donāt like it. That wouldn’t make sense right?
But hereās the thingāif you sign a one-year lease, you’re not locked in forever. You always have the ability to reassess and make changes when needed.
āļøCommitment doesn’t mean a loss of freedom, it means taking a step forward knowing you still hold the power to choose and adjust when necessary.
True freedom isnāt found in avoiding commitment but in understanding that commitment gives you a foundation from which you can grow and evolveš„°.
The key is knowing that we always retain the ability to choose againš
